THE Holmes a Court Gallery may be moving later this year.

The news comes as the gallery celebrates its 10th birthday with a special exhibition appropriately name Ten.

Gallery director Sharon Tassicker said that while nothing was definite, the gallery was looking at a number of options after news that the owners of the East Perth building may be developing it in a different way.

Over the decade Janet Homes à Court has acquired more than 160 pieces for the Janet Homes à Court Collection and Ten features a selection of these works from established and emerging artists, both Australian and international.

The exhibition includes works from deceased artists Lloyd Rees, Tony Tuckson, Howard Taylor and John Campbell as well as Dorothy Napangardi, Gloria Petyarre, Danie Mellor, Angelina Pwerle, Janine McAullay Bott, Nora Holland, Jean Baptiste Apuatimi, Gulumbu Yunupingu, Jon Tarry, Peter Sharp, Clyde McGill, Therese Howard, Merrick Belyea, Lesley Meaney, Rachel Coad, Clare McFarlane, Yifeng Tan, Haruyuki Uchida, Galliano Fardin and Mike Singe.

Ms Tassicker said the opening of the gallery in 2000 bought to fruition a long-held dream of Ms Holmes à Court’s to create opportunities for culture and business to co-exist and thrive.

“Janet really wanted somewhere to show the collection and share it with everyone else. With over 4000 pieces, it’s a great resource,” Ms Tassicker said.

In 2006 Ms Holmes à Court took ownership of the gallery and in 2010 she took sole ownership of the art collection.

Ms Tassicker said personal highlights included the Clyde McGill residency and ORLAN exhibition.

Ten will be opened by Ms Holmes à Court, with a special performance on violin by Christina Katsimbardis.
