Greetings all,
First of all, let me apologise profusely to my readers -- all four of you, yes, you know who you are, you magnificent creatures -- about my recent posting lull.
Unlike Thrillsville, who at least has the sexy and thrilling excuse of becoming a roller derby queen, I have been cloistered in my room, muttering at recalcitrant computer programs, not having time to wash my hair, and furtively cutting up bits of cardboard.
Now, don't lock up your small animals and children just yet.
I have, in fact, been working on an art portfolio. It has now been shown to the people it was meant for, received with many pleasant words (which made me happy, but also very embarrassed and squirmy), and it got me into the thing I wanted to get into. Sorry for being so coy, but I'll let you know more when it's all in the bag.
Next time I'm absent for this long, I shall give you all advance warning, and post things at random to remind you that I am still alive, like, "Bacon is life!" and, "I am starting to find male cartoon characters strangely attractive -- it must be time to leave my room."
Now, while I was playing with art supplies indoors with the curtains drawn, the clocks got set forward by an hour.
We've now had daylight savings for almost two weeks. How are you all finding it?
I'm still not sure about how I'm going to vote at the referendum next year.
On the one hand, getting up in the mornings is very hard. I am not a morning person, and before daylight savings, getting out of bed made me feel like I had been trampled by barnyard animals. Now it feels like the whole damn cast of Walking with Dinosaurs.
On the other hand, there is enough sunlight left in the day for me to do the gardening and other chores when I get home from work. This gives me extra time to do fun, non-gardening, non-chore things on the weekends. There is also a feeling of added security when I finish work and walk to the train station in the evenings. The same weirdos might still be hanging around, but at least I can see them sooner and get a running start.
It is like being wooed by two attractive suitors at the same time. One is a sweet, sensitive guitarist in a folk band who gives you foot massages and brings you breakfast in bed (this is no daylight savings leaving my sleep patterns alone), the other is a hot secret agent who takes you skydiving in the Maldives on your first date (this is daylight savings giving me more options for my leisure time, but also making me feel old and tired).
Hm, I really need to watch less cheesy TV.
See you next week (I promise!), and many thanks for your continued support,
Angie
