LESS than one per cent of our waters are protected as marine parks, yet 90 per cent of WA’s marine life is found nowhere else in the world.
As a Western Australian, I feel very lucky to have unique marine life basically in my backyard.
However, if more protection is not given to our marine life it may not be there in the years to come and my children and grandchildren simply will not be able to experience it.
Not only that, but if no protection is given now there may not be a fishing industry in the future. Our environment is so fragile and it saddens me greatly that our Government does not value it enough to offer it some protection.
